AELYN STEPPED OUT OF HER ROOM THE NEXT NIGHT DRESSED IN A WHITE DRESS WITH WINGED SLEEVES. For the first time since she arrived in Greece, she put heat to her hair, flat ironing and adding bouncing curls. Nude lipstick adorned her lips, and brown and gold tones highlighted her dark brown skin. She wanted to go for something simple yet elegant, meeting Nikos’s family.

“Where are you going?” Anastasia curiously questioned as she examined Raelyn’s attire with a frown.

Raelyn contemplated telling her but immediately thought better of it. Right now, Anastasia wasn’t her usual self. Right now, she was a jealous brat, angry that she wasn’t getting the attention she was used to. Jealousy had reared her friend’s head ugly, and Raelyn had a feeling Anastasia would take that information about her meeting Nikos’s family and deliver it to Leonidas. And Leonidas was the last person Raelyn wanted to know about her whereabouts.

After accepting Nikos’s proposal, she should have told Leonidas. But Raelyn knew Leonidas would use this as a way to hurt Nikos’s family, and she wanted no parts of it. Raelyn was no fool. No matter how much of a good guy Nikos had proven himself to be while dating these past weeks did not change anything. Leonidas gave her a task to seduce Nikos, and she had to do it. It wasn’t up for debate. It wasn’t negotiable.

But still, there were certain things Raelyn refused to be a part of, like hurting an entire family. She couldn’t do it. She couldn’t stomach it. So, instead of telling Leonidas, she planned to keep it to herself as long as she possibly could, and if Raelyn told Anastasia, Raelyn knew she would receive a call before she even got the chance to step inside Nikos’s home.

“Nikos wants to take me out on a date,” Raelyn lied easily.

“Another date again,” Anastasia said with a sneer. “I wonder how Nikos would feel about these dates if he knew who you really were.”

Raelyn watched as Anastasia stood from the couch and stormed back to her room. Violet, who had been on the couch with Anastasia, mouthed an apology before she followed after her cousin, probably to tend to her fragile ego. Raelyn mused over her friend’s words with apprehension, wondering why Anastasia would even think such things before shaking it off. Anastasia wasn’t that stupid, no matter how angry she was.

Raelyn left the house and met Nikos, who had been waiting for her outside. They got in his car, and an hour later, they were at his family home, which was just as big as Leonidas’s home. She shouldn’t have been surprised, and yet she was. She had never seen such big homes like this in her life before and had only dreamt of living in places like this when she was younger. Sometimes, it was crazy to imagine that this had been Leonidas’s and Nikos’s world since birth. They were born with wealth that Raelyn could only have in her dreams.
